The 2021 Versailles Palace Marathon
Marathon # 291
Absurdistan Marathon # 14
Date: June 14, 2021
My time: 7:43:59
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
My initial goal was, instead of driving or taking public transport, to walk to Versailles to return a device to an internet provider’s store. Afterwards, I decided to turn the walk into a marathon. So I made a detour through the park of the Palace of Versailles (kilometer 12 to kilometer 28) before heading home.
The fact that humans no longer walk and run long distances is one of the main causes of the comorbidities (obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cognitive impairment, etc.) of the COVID-19 pandemic. I explain in my book Running Barefoot for Human Survival, why no one is seriously caring about these chronic diseases, which are ruining the lives of billions of people and killing yearly over 40 million, with or without COVID, not to mention the close links between these pathologies—including their risk factors—and global warming. Quo vadis, homo sapiens?
Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
