Dr. Sidy Diallo ran in seven days in Panama City his 121st truly barefoot marathon and three half marathons.
The 2022 Panama Marathon
Marathon # 363
Date: November 27, 2022
My Time: 4:58:18
By Dr. Sidy Diallo
Physical Activity in Panama City: 140 km in 7 Days
Day one: I ran my 10th paradise half marathon, just hours after our arrival in Panama City.
Day 2: We did an out and back walk from the Yacht Club Tower to the summit of Ancon Hill.
Day 3: I ran barefoot my 11th paradise half marathon.
I did no physical activity on day 4. My wife, Gisele Diallo, our sons—Thierry Diallo, Cedric Diallo and Alexandre Diallo—and I did instead an awesome cruise on the Panama Canal onboard the Pacific Queen, from Flamenco Island in the Pacific Ocean until Gamboa.
We sailed through the Miraflores Locks and the Pedro Miguel locks with the last cargo ship heading north in the morning. We ascended from sea level 18 meters (60 feet) in two steps at the Miraflores locks, and another nine meters (30 feet) at the Pedro Miguel locks into the Gatun Lake. We returned to Flamenco Island by bus. This unique experience is a must do for people visiting Panama.
Day 5: I ran all the distance of the 2022 Panama Marathon with Cedric, who completed his first marathon. My wife and Alexandre did the half marathon.
Day 6: We did another out and back walk from the Yacht Club Tower to the Parque Omar in the San Francisco district, including the 4 km of the park’s trail.
Day 7: I ran barefoot my 12th paradise half marathon. We boarded in the evening the Air France flight to Paris.
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
