Dr. Sidy Diallo's 400th Marathon
Marathon # 400
Truly barefoot marathon # 129
Date: July 30, 2023
My Time: 5:31:53
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
I did barefoot my 400th marathon in the Paris area to promote at 68 the health and fitness benefits of barefoot running. It’s my 33rd marathon in 7 months, including 5 official marathons: the 2023 Bermuda Marathon, the 2023 Moorea Marathon in French Polynesia, the 2023 Montpellier Marathon, the 2023 Marne and Gondoire Marathon and the 2023 Paris Marathon. I did the 28 private marathons in France, in Leamington Spa, England, and in Bermuda.
My other private runs since January include a 50 km ultramarathon in France and the Tahiti 25 km Run in French Polynesia where my purpose was, upon arrival in Papeete, to do a private marathon, but when I reached 25 km, it was too hot to continue in a comfortable manner.
I started doing private marathons and ultramarathons in 2020 in reaction to the worldwide race cancellations and other destructive restrictions that expectedly ended up badly impacting the physical and mental health of many people. I completed by the way 72 marathons and 3 ultramarathons in 2020.
Unlimited Marathons
Contrary to the widespread belief, completing 400 or more marathons is not an achievement, but just the participation in the multi-million-year vital human activity, formerly to get food for survival, now to stay fit and physically and mentally healthy as we age.
I explain in my book Running Barefoot for Human Survival how and why running barefoot makes it possible to do a unlimited number of marathons and ultramarathons without experiencing any pain or injury.
Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
