Pathetic Homo sapiens
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
Why are humans seeking advice on how and what to eat, how to run, what to wear, etc.?
Aquatic species know how to swim, and birds how to fly. Chimps know how to climb and how to jump safely from one tree to another, and they know that bananas are better food than potato chips. And like our ancestors, lions know by themselves how to run, what and how to eat. They never need to consult another lion. So why individuals of the allegedly most intelligent animal species need some gurus to teach them know to run, what and how to eat, or what harmful accessories are better for their feet? And why are the consequences inevitably more running injuries, increasing chronic diseases and rising global warming?
The answer is simple: our intelligence can’t help us, because we’re brainwashed by gurus who are mostly interested in increasing their power or maximizing their gains. So they exploit our gullibility to keep selling their promising stuff, while smartly switching the blame on us for any failure. And that works perfectly well for them and for their business, while aggravating our problems and irresponsibly warming the planet. For instance, diets never work for the dieters, because they are not meant to work; otherwise the gurus would stop getting money from their customers. And if you get injured while running with the “best shoes for you,” you’ll be advised to replace them by the newest and more revolutionary model, etc.
On January 28, 2020, I came across my training plans for my first marathon, that is the 2010 Chicago Marathon. You can read on the first photo the countdown, in French, to race day, which was on October 10. September 19th: 21 days to go, etc. My goal was to complete the race in a time of 3:15, as written on the top of the plan in French. I crossed the finish line in a time of 5:20 with a serious knee injury. When I went later to the store in Lincoln Park, where I had bought my first sneakers, I was advised to buy the new model. And I kept buying new models until 2015.
Then I started to find out what I had been going through, how the gurus had lied to me, and how running barefoot can guarantee human survival, by achieving smartly and freely an ideal weight and a happy and healthy lifestyle, while preventing running injuries, terminating overconsumption, with no regret, and effectively stopping global warming.
I share the experience in my book: Running Barefoot for Human Survival (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
