Dr. Sidy Diallo ran in Italy his 42nd truly barefoot marathon.
The 2018 Pisa Marathon
Date: December 16, 2018
My Time: 3:44:02
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
I had a lot of fun running barefoot the 42.2 km, despite the unfriendly freezing temperature for humans. It’s all about preventing serious distal ischemia when running barefoot in the cold, by either better protecting the rest of the body, including the hands, in order to limit heat loss, or running as fast as you can to increase heat production. I combined both techniques in this race, which I completed pain and injury free, despite freezing temperatures.
It’s the last of my 15 barefoot marathons in 14 weeks (September 9 through December 16, 2018).
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
