The Human Misery Marathon
Marathon # 318
Date: December 19, 2021

By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
It's hard times for humans in the global valley of misery.
I did in the cold and foggy Paris area my 318th marathon. I ran all along the Jean Racine Path to the city of Chevreuse. On the way back, I passed the ruins of the Abbey of Port-Royal des Champs (@ km 26), which recall the atrocities committed by Louis XIV’s France against the defenseless nuns who had directed and managed the convent for several generations.
My “pilgrimage” took me 2.5 km further to a sign, which from afar ominously appears like a white cross in the middle of the forest. As it turned out, the sign indicates 8 directions (photo # 2), including Valley of Misery Road (French: Route de la Vallée de la Misère), which has never been so aptly named as during the current times in “Authoritarian Absurdistan” and the rest of the world, since the entire planet is becoming a globalized valley of human misery.
History is repeating itself on a grand scale, for, remember, a man is a wolf to another man. And man tends to be brutal when he enjoys total impunity. Please note: the comparison isn’t a kind one for the wolf, because, unlike humans, wolves don’t commit the same atrocities on other wolves, to say the least!
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
