The 2021 Absurdistan Runs
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
I explained in 2020 why I started naming my private runs in France Absurdistan marathons.
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).

Date: December 28, 2021
My time: 4:50:29
The weather was as dismal as the pandemic hysteria, so much so that the image of the Lake also seemed to foreshadow the twilight of Homo sapiens. Folks, these gloomy circumstances rather boosted my motivation, because it’s more crucial than ever to keep running and walking for our physical and mental health, and leading by example. I consequently finished the marathon faster than my recent marathons and walked afterwards 1.23 km to my aid station, i.e. the car.

My time: 5:05:33
I ran in the Paris area where I took few pictures of an ongoing deforestation—the liberated dangerous carbon dioxide is by definition invisible—by those who are pointing fingers at developing countries in Asia, Africa or South America. Wikipedia explains how Europeans destroyed their forests before doing the same on other continents:
“Europeans had lived in the midst of vast forests throughout the earlier medieval centuries. After 1250 they became so skilled at deforestation that by 1500 they were running short of wood for heating and cooking. They were faced with a nutritional decline because of the elimination of the generous supply of wild game that had inhabited the disappearing forests, which throughout medieval times had provided the staple of their carnivorous high-protein diet...”

The weather in the Paris area was perfect to run barefoot, like our valiant ancestors. Although while I was running my face was expressing neither fear nor any pain, but quite the opposite, a lot of people asked me the eternal questions barefoot runners have to face in many places around the world. “Don’t your feet hurt? Aren’t you afraid of stepping on broken glass?”...
There were fortunately a lot of pieces of broken glass on a place of the course. So I stepped on them and took a photo to illustrate what I was saying, to no avail. That’s hardly a surprise to me, as it’s one of the symptoms of the ancestral phobia of bare feet that I explain in my book Running Barefoot for Human Survival.

State of play in Authoritarian Absurdistan as of December 15, 2020
There’s a new curfew between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.—including on New Year’s Eve—; I did on December 15 my first Absurdistan Marathon, as we are temporarily free to run, except during the curfew; the ban on organized running events remains in force; we’ve entered the coldest season; the mental and physical health of the citizens keeps worsening, etc. May rationality and liberty prevail in Absurdistan and throughout the world in 2021.
