The 2026 Yvelines 100 km Long March, France
(French: Les 100 km Audax des Yvelines 2026)
Ultramarathon # 26
Distance: 100 km
Date: July 4 and 5, 2026
My Walking Time: 17:43:46
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
Given the coinciding dates, I am dedicating my first 100 km walk to my friends in the United States and around the world. On July 4, 1776, the 13 American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. Then, on the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence, on Saturday, July 4, 2026, 81 Belgian and French walkers took the start of the 2026 Yvelines 100 km Long March.
We set off at 2:00 PM Paris time (8:00 AM in Washington, D.C.; 5:00 AM in Los Angeles) from the town of Montigny-le-Bretonneux and walked through the Yvelines department until 10:00 AM on Sunday.
All participants who completed the event received an official certificate, and 25 of us—myself included—also received a special diploma for completing a 100 km walk for the first time. Furthermore, I had the great honor of receiving a trophy from the Mayor of Montigny-le-Bretonneux, Mr. Lorrain Merckaert, in recognition of my contribution to our town’s image.
A huge thank you to the five associations that joined forces to organize this magnificent 100 km endurance walk at the Audax pace—specifically 6 km/h—namely ADAL (Montigny-le-Bretonneux), Les Pieds Nickelés (Chavenay), Trotte-Sentiers Magnycois (Magny-les-Hameaux), CPTRR (Rambouillet), and the Yvelines Departmental Hiking Committee (CDRP78).
And congratulations to Captain Aurélie Vontrat, her team, and all the volunteers for the perfect organization and execution of this immensely joyful and enriching human experience.
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
