I dedicated my 560th marathon to the 2026 Maspalomas Carnival in southern Gran Canaria (March 10–28). Originally scheduled to run until March 21, the carnival had to postpone the last four days of festivities—including the drag queen gala, the grand parade, and the burial of the sardine—due to Storm Therese.

The grand parade of the 2026 Maspalomas Carnival attracted a huge crowd, packed on and around the 116 floats, and all along the route.
The procession for the burial of the sardine is one of the most popular events of the Maspalomas Carnival.
