I did part of my 589th marathon (from the 32nd to the 38th kilometer) in John Paul II Park in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria—hence the race's name.
I set off at dawn and ran 26 km in Playa del Inglés, in the south of the island, before taking the bus with my wife to Las Palmas in the north, where a picnic for the French-speaking community was scheduled to take place in John Paul II Park.
