The 2026 Ibiza Marathon, Ibiza Island
Marathon # 565
Date: April 18, 2026
My Time on the marathon: 4:51:43
My Time on the 67 km: 10:43:34
By Dr. Barefoot Sidy Diallo
On April 18, 2026 I ended up doing 67 km in Ibiza, including the official marathon of the Spanish island. I walked 24.4 km before the race visiting Santa Eulària des Riu, where I was staying, and the old city of Ibiza, where the race started at 15:45.
Ibiza is a small island, which means that course of the marathon is a detour through many municipalities before reaching the finish line in Santa Eulària des Riu. Afterwards, I did a short walk to my accommodation.
The entertainment on the course included many DJs performances, a reminder that Ibiza is one of the world's greatest partying destinations, hosting the most famous DJ's during the summer. There's even a dedicated radio and TV Channel that broadcasts 24/7 DJ's performances, so you can quietly enjoy in your hotel room at any season.
It was my great pleasure to meet at the start of the race two participants who had made arguably the longest trip to Ibiza: Valentina Garrido Benavente and Francisca Estrada Bascañan from Chile.
My book Running Barefoot for Human Survival is available on Amazon in paperback and e-book format (French edition: Courir pieds nus pour sauver les humains).
