For my 21st ultramarathon and first private ultramarathon in Gran Canaria, I set off from Playa del Inglés and headed to Lake Ayagaures. I continued towards Tunte—the capital of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, but I decided to turn back 4 km before the destination.
Otherwise I’d have to walk on the mountains many hours in the dark, which I deemed not very wise. Nonetheless, by the time I reached the Barranco de los Vicentes—one of the island’s dry canyons—on my way back, it was already dark.
