The celebration of the 2025 French National Holiday, commonly known in English as Bastille Day, included two events in Gran Canaria—a Spanish island off the West African coast.
On July 13, the eve of the national holiday, I participated with my wife Gisele Diallo in a buffet show organized for the French community, in Las Palmas—the provincial capital of the eastern Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Graciosa).
The next day, July 14, I completed a marathon. I started in Playa del Inglés and headed to the Meloneras Promenade where I ran most of the distance. I also did a lap in the Tony Gallardo Park and finished the race in the Botanic Garden of Maspalomas.
